The IHRSA Foundation
Despite the many proven health benefits of exercise, physical inactivity, obesity, and chronic disease continue to be growing global problems.
The IHRSA Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization established in 2012 with the goal of promoting health through exercise. The purpose of the IHRSA Foundation is to support the charitable and educational functions of the International, Health Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA).
The mission of the IHRSA Foundation is focused in three key areas:
- Conducting research specific to health outcomes associated with physical activity
- Providing educational and training resources and support to health clubs
- Promoting evidence-based health and wellness programs that result in individuals embracing a healthier lifestyle through exercise.
What will the Foundation do?
The IHRSA Foundation will build capacity across the health club industry so fitness professionals can deliver evidence-based health promotion programs for a wide array of disease prevention and chronic disease management purposes.
The IHRSA Foundation's programs and research will be available to the general public, and support the platform adopted by IHRSA to promote the health club industry as a primary solution to the physical inactivity epidemic.
